How Much Water Should You Drink?

Water is critical to being healthy, having a fast metabolism, being able to concentrate and slowing down the onset of wrinkles.

Ideally you want to shoot for drinking half your body weight in ounces of water.  Most people do NOT drink enough water and it really just needs to be developed day by day into a habit. To build a new habit of drinking water, commit to drinking 64 ounces every day for 21 days.

Why would you want to drink more water? Water is so CRITICAL to being healthy, having a fast metabolism, being able to concentrate and slowing down the onset of wrinkles. Your body is 70% water so it’s important to provide your body with what it needs.

  1. When you are dehydrated, you will lose less weight because it slows down your metabolism.
  2. When the cells do not have water, they become dry and not as supple.  Some of the best skin I have ever seen on women in their 50’s and 60’s are women who drink a lot of water.
  3. It helps fill you up more so you aren’t always hungry.  If you feel hungry but know you just ate recently, drink a big glass of water.
  4. Drinking enough water and taking omega 3 fatty acids is important for having good vision especially at a young age.  It helps fight off macular degeneration, a medical condition which usually affects older adults and results in a loss of vision in the center of the visual field because of damage to the retina. Some believe not drinking enough water is another reason people get shorter as they get older.  There are discs between your vertebrae that are filled with fluid and when they get dehydrated, they shrink - which means your spine won’t be as tall as it was 40 years earlier. Now that should be motivation enough for you to start drinking more water today!
