Connerton Principal Recommended for Termination

Pasco County School Superintendent Kurt Browning has placed the beleaguered Anna Falcone on administrative leave and has recommended termination.

It looks like parents and teachers who have been calling for a change in leadership at Connerton Elementary School in Land O’ Lakes are going to get their wish.

Pasco County School Superintendent Kurt Browning announced today, March 22 that Anna Falcone has been placed on administrative leave. He is recommending her termination, but that action has to be approved by the school board.

Browning said, in a release to media, that Falcone had violated confidentiality and acted insubordinately.

“It was brought to my attention that Mrs. Falcone persisted in seeking confidential information after repeatedly being denied the information by her superiors,” Browning said in the media release. “I cannot and will not tolerate such insubordination, especially when it brings into question the integrity of this school system.”

The act of subordination in question centers on a climate survey Pasco County Schools asked teachers, students and families to take. Falcone, the release said, asked at least three administrators for information about the people who responded to Connerton’s survey. Despite being told that information was confidential, “she persisted and eventually obtained the names under-handedly,” the release said.

Falcone was already working with a “principal coach” to address concerns raised in recent months by parents and staff.

“Unfortunately, her actions related to the surveys constitute insubordination, violate district policy, and may violate the educator code of ethics,” Browning said.

Aimee Boltz has been named acting principal.
