Full Thanksgiving Vacation Back On in Land O’ Lakes Schools

The district made the announcement today.

Land O’ Lakes parents concerned that the Pasco County School District would have to cut Thanksgiving break short to make up for a hurricane day declared during Tropical Storm Isaac can breathe a little easier.

Superintendent Heather Fiorentino made the announcement at today’s school board meeting that the full-week vacation is back on. Fiorentino said district officials looked at everything and decided the Aug. 27 hurricane day didn’t have to be made up.

When the district set its calendar for the year, it built in two possible makeup days for hurricanes during Thanksgiving break. Since one of those days was used during Isaac, it has been unclear if the scheduled weeklong break would stand as is or need to be shortened.
