Teacher Resigns Amid Allegations of Adult Content on School Computer

The Sunlake High social studies teacher was being investigated by the district.

A Sunlake High teacher under investigation for "inappropriate materials" on his district-issued computer has resigned, the Tampa Bay Times reported.

According to the Times, social studies teacher Chuck Moehle, 56, was reported to the school’s principal for having "adult pictures" on his computer about a week ago. He was placed on administrative leave at the time, the Times reported.

The Pasco School district’s employee relations department concluded that Moehle did nothing illegal, however it did not proceed with its review after he submitted his letter of resignation, assistant superintendent Renalia DuBose told the Times.

Moehle began teaching in the district in 2003, and was the Land O’ Lakes High athletic director from 2003- 09, according to the Times.

This wasn’t the first time Moehle has come under fire from the district.

Moehle was suspended without pay in 2010 while teaching at Anclote High School for having "inappropriate communications" with a student, the Times reported. At that time, the district banned Moehle from having female students in his classroom during planning periods and lunch.

Moehle is not the only Land O' Lakes teacher to forfeit a position recently based on allegations of inappropriate computer use. Land O 'Lakes High teacher Angelica Cruikshank was fired in August after the school board determined she inappropriately accessed a student-created Facebook page.

And Superintendent Heather Fiorentino herself was accused of misconduct recently, when the board approved an outside investigation into allegations of political coercion by the superintendent's office.
