What's Up In Area Schools?

Trying to keep up with school calendars can be tough for busy parents. To help you out, we’ve put it all in one place.

Here’s a look at events and activities taking place in schools in the Land O’ Lakes area April 25-29:

• Academy at the Lakes, 2220 Collier Pky. – There is no school April 25. The middle division baseball team has a game at 3:30 p.m. on April 26. The seventh-grade field trip is set for 10 a.m. April 28 and the Spring Concert is planned for 6:30 p.m. April 29 in the school’s gym.
• Land O’ Lakes Christian School, 5105 School Rd. – The elementary and junior high fine arts competition is set for April 29.
• Connerton Elementary, 9300 Flourish Dr. – The kindergarten roundup takes place April 26 at 6:30 p.m. and the Mother-Daughter Tea is planned for the same day at 2:30. The tea is for the fourth grade only. Progress reports go home April 28 and Field Day is set for April 29.
• Denham Oaks Elementary, 1422 Oak Grove Blvd. – Kindergarten orientation is set for April 28 from 6 to 7 p.m. and progress reports go home the same day.
• Lake Myrtle Elementary School, 22844 Weeks Blvd. – It’s library week at Lake Myrtle. The reading challenge is set for April 28; the same day progress reports go home.
• Oakstead Elementary, 19925 Lake Patience Rd. – The Tropicana Speech Contest takes place at 10 a.m. April 25. Student of the month recognition is planned for April 26. Clubs begin on April 28 and progress reports go home. April 28 is also Take Your Child to Work Day. The Sunshine State Night party is planned April 29.
• Pine View Elementary, 5333 Parkway Blvd. – McDonald’s Night is April 27. The Kindergarten Open House is planned for 6 to 7:30 p.m. April 28 and progress reports go home that day.
• Charles S. Rushe Middle, 18654 Mentmore Blvd. – The Drama Club meets from 3 to 5:15 p.m. April 25 and the Painters Permanent Art Collection Team gathers from 3 to 4:30 p.m. The sixth-grade honor roll assembly is at 9 a.m. on April 26 and the track team has a meet. On April 27, the seventh grade honor roll assembly gets under way at 9 a.m., the assembly for the eighth grade is planned at the same time April 29. Progress reports go out April 28.
• Pine View Middle, 5334 Parkway Blvd. – Progress reports go out on April 28.
• Land O’ Lakes High School, 20325 Gator Ln. – Club Day is April 26 and progress reports go out April 28.
• Sunlake High School, 3023 Sunlake Blvd. – Colorguard auditions are planned April 26-28 from 5 to 8 p.m. Progress reports go out April 28.
