What's Up In Area Schools?

Trying to keep up with school calendars can be tough for busy parents. To help you out, we’ve put it all in one place.

Here’s a look at events and activities taking place in schools in the Land O’ Lakes area May 2-6

• Academy at the Lakes, 2220 Collier Pky. – The middle division baseball team has a game May 2 at 3:30 p.m.
• Land O’ Lakes Christian School, 5105 School Rd. – Fourth quarter progress reports go home May 5.
• Connerton Elementary, 9300 Flourish Dr. – This week is teacher and staff appreciation week. Also, the PTA has a meeting on May 5.
• Denham Oaks Elementary, 1422 Oak Grove Blvd. – Kindergarten registration is May 2 from 8 to 10 a.m. in the media center and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the guidance area. The front office will accept registrations starting May 3. Texas Roadhouse Night is May 4.
• Lake Myrtle Elementary School, 22844 Weeks Blvd. – Kindergarten registration starts at 8:30 a.m. May 2. May 3 is family night at Tijuana Flats.
• Oakstead Elementary, 19925 Lake Patience Rd. – May 3 is Tijuana Flats night and May 4 is McOtter night. The Authors’ Spotlight for third-graders is May 5 from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. in the cafeteria.
• Pine View Elementary, 5333 Parkway Blvd. – Kindergarten pre-registration begins May 2 and the Pride of the Parkway Kickball Game is May 6.
• Charles S. Rushe Middle, 18654 Mentmore Blvd. – The Drama Club meets from 3 to 5:15 p.m. on May 2 and the Painters Permanent Art Collection Team gathers from 3 to 4:30 p.m. Student government meets May 3 from 7:55 to 8:25 a.m. The in-school speech contest is May 4 and the Spring Art Show is set for May 5 from 5:30 to 8 p.m.
• Pine View Middle, 5334 Parkway Blvd. – The annual art show is May 5 at 6:30 p.m. in the cafeteria. The Pride of the Parkway kickball game is set for May 6 at 4:30 p.m. The game pits Pine View Elementary and Middle school staff against each other.
