What's Up In Area Schools?

Trying to keep up with school calendars can be tough for busy parents. To help you out, we’ve put it all in one place.

Here’s a look at events and activities taking place in schools in the Land O’ Lakes area May 9-13

• Academy at the Lakes, 2220 Collier Pky. – The middle division sports awards are set for May 12 at 7 p.m.
• Land O’ Lakes Christian School, 5105 School Rd. – The athletics golf tournament is set for May 13 and the junior/senior banquet is May 14.
• Connerton Elementary, 9300 Flourish Dr. – The Sunshine State Young Readers program is set for May 13 and the golf tournament is scheduled for May 15.
• Denham Oaks Elementary, 1422 Oak Grove Blvd. – One Last Hurrah is set for May 10 from 6 to 8 p.m. with a PTA meeting, ice cream social, art show, concert and more. Market Day orders are also due May 10.
• Lake Myrtle Elementary School, 22844 Weeks Blvd. – The school advisory committee meets May 13 at 7:45 a.m.
• Oakstead Elementary, 19925 Lake Patience Rd. – May 13 is Green Spirit Day and the All-Pro Dads meet at 8:30 a.m.
• Pine View Elementary, 5333 Parkway Blvd. – The All-Pro Dads Picnic is May 14 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
• Charles S. Rushe Middle, 18654 Mentmore Blvd. – A school-wide book swap is planned May 13-20 in the cafeteria during lunches. Students can bring their old books into the media center and select different books during lunches. All donated books must be in good condition. The Drama Club meets from 3 to 5:15 p.m. on May 9. The conference track meet is set for 4 to 10 p.m. May 10 and the National Junior Honor Society inductions are from 6 to 7:30 p.m. On May 11, the honor society meets from 3 to 3:30 p.m. and the spring football camp is set for 3 p.m.
