What's Up In Area Schools?

Trying to keep up with school calendars can be tough for busy parents. To help you out, we’ve put it all in one place.

Here’s a look at events and activities taking place in schools in the Land O’ Lakes area May 9-13

• Academy at the Lakes, 2220 Collier Pky. – The upper division’s sports aware ceremony is set for May 17 from 7 to 8:30 p.m. A “Day of Achievement” for grades one through four takes place May 20 from 8:30 to 11 a.m.
• Land O’ Lakes Christian School, 5105 School Rd. – The volunteer appreciation brunch is set for 8:30 a.m. May 18 and May 20 is the last day of school for kindergarten level students.
• Connerton Elementary, 9300 Flourish Dr. – May 18 is Beef’s Night and the SAC meets on May 20.
• Denham Oaks Elementary, 1422 Oak Grove Blvd. – May 19 is Market Day pick up between 4:30 and 5:30 p.m.
• Lake Myrtle Elementary School, 22844 Weeks Blvd. – Place fall registration begins May 16.Market Day pickup is at 3:30 p.m. May 18.
• Oakstead Elementary, 19925 Lake Patience Rd. – Tijuana Flats night is May 17 and the Student of the Month program is set for the same day at 10 a.m. Friday, May 29 is the Otter Splash Field Day and picnic lunch day.
• Pine View Elementary, 5333 Parkway Blvd. – Tijuana Flats night is May 17. McDonald’s night is May 18. The PTA plans a spaghetti dinner May 19. Elections for the new year will take place, as well.
• Charles S. Rushe Middle, 18654 Mentmore Blvd. – The athletic awards ceremony is set for May 16 from 6 to 8 p.m. May 17 includes the PTSA general assembly meeting at 5:30 p.m. and the chorus and jazz band concert from 6 to 8 p.m. The All Pro Dad’s breakfast is May 20 at 7:30 a.m.
• Sunlake High School, 3023 Sunlake Blvd. – Senior Exams continue May 17 and 18. The last day for seniors is May 18. The black and teal football game is set for May 20 from 7 to 9 p.m.
• Land O’ Lakes High School, 20325 Gator Lane – Seniors Last Day is set for May 18.
