What’s Up in Area Schools?

Trying to keep up with school calendars can be tough for busy parents. To help you out, we’ve put it all in one place.

Here’s a look at events and activities taking place in schools in the Land O’ Lakes area Sept. 6-9:

• Academy at the Lakes, 2220 Collier Pky. – The PK3-SK coffee is set for 8:30 a.m. Sept. 6 and the varsity volleyball team plays at 6 p.m. The fifth- and sixth-grade parent coffee is at 8:15 a.m. Sept. 7 and the middle division volleyball team plays at 4 p.m. On Sept. 8, the Upper Division parent coffee is set for 8:15 a.m. and the varsity volleyball team plays at 6 p.m. The seventh- and eighth-grade parent coffee is Sept. 9 at 8:15 a.m. with varsity football at 7:30 p.m. The varsity cross country team has a meet Sept. 10.
• Land O’ Lakes Christian School, 5105 School Rd. – Student picture day is set for Sept. 7.
• Connerton Elementary, 9300 Flourish Dr. – There are no activities announced this week.
• Denham Oaks Elementary, 1422 Oak Grove Blvd. – There are no activities announced this week.
• Lake Myrtle Elementary School, 22844 Weeks Blvd. – There are no activities announced this week.
• Oakstead Elementary, 19925 Lake Patience Rd. – McOtter Night is set for Sept. 7 and the PTA general meeting is Sept. 8 at 6:30 p.m.
• Pine View Elementary, 5333 Parkway Blvd. – The book fair begins Sept. 6. The school’s open house runs from 6 to 8 p.m. Sept. 8.
• Charles S. Rushe Middle, 18654 Mentmore Blvd. – The book fair is taking place right now. Parents and students can access it online from the Rushe website through Sept. 13.
• Pine View Middle, 5334 Parkway Blvd. – There are no activities announced this week.
• Land O’ Lakes High School, 20325 Gator Ln. – Open house is set for Sept. 6 from 6 to 7:30 p.m.
• Sunlake High School, 3023 Sunlake Blvd. – Open house is Sept. 7 from 6:30 to 8 p.m.
