What's Up In Area Schools?

Trying to keep up with school calendars can be tough for busy parents. To help you out, we’ve put it all in one place. Here’s a look at events and activities taking place in schools in the Land O’ Lakes area Feb. 7-11:

• Academy at the Lakes, 2220 Collier Pky. – The middle division’s girl’s track team travels to Berkeley Prep for a meet Feb. 9 from 4 to 9 p.m. House Day is Feb. 10 from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. House shirts and sneakers are required and House Day lunches can be ordered through the office. The seventh- and eighth-grade Valentine’s Dance is set for Feb. 11 from 7 to 9:30 p.m. in the gym.
• Connerton Elementary, 9300 Flourish Dr. – Progress reports go home Feb. 7.
• Denham Oaks Elementary, 1422 Oak Grove Blvd. – Progress reports go home Feb. 7 and Market Day orders are due Feb. 8. Texas Roadhouse Night is Feb. 9 from 4 to 8 p.m. Bring a coupon in to make sure 10 percent of food purchases go to the Running Club. The school is accepting donations of old VCRs, iPods and Nanos are being accepted.
• Lake Myrtle, 22844 Weeks Blvd. – Progress reports go home Feb. 7. The SAC meets Feb. 11 at 7:45 a.m.
• Oakstead Elementary, 19925 Lake Patience Rd. – Progress reports go home Feb. 7. Green Spirit Day is Feb. 11 and the Otter Ball is set for 6 p.m. the same night.
• Pine View Elementary, 5333 Parkway Blvd. – Progress Reports go home Feb. 7. Smencils are for sale in the media center on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9:30 to 9:45 a.m. and from 3:30 to 3:45 p.m.
• Charles S. Rushe Middle, 18654 Mentmore Blvd. – The drama club meets from 3 to 4 p.m. Feb. 7, and the girls soccer team goes up against Pine View Middle. The District Book Battle contest is set for Feb. 8 and the sixth-grade honor roll celebration is 9 a.m. On Feb. 9, the Newspaper Club meets from 3 to 4 p.m.; the seventh-grade honor roll celebration is set for 9 a.m., and the girls soccer team goes up against John Long Middle. Feb. 10 is the eighth-grade honor roll celebration at 9 a.m. and the boys basketball team plays Centennial Middle. The student of the month presentation is set for 8:30 a.m. Feb. 11.
• Pine View Middle, 5334 Parkway Blvd. – Progress reports go home Feb. 7 and the girls soccer team plays Rushe.
• Land O’ Lakes High School, 20325 Gator Ln. – The boys basketball team plays in district games this week. National Honor Society applications are due by Feb. 11.
