What's Up In Area Schools?

Trying to keep up with school calendars can be tough for busy parents. To help you out, we’ve put it all in one place. Here’s a look at events and activities taking place in schools in the Land O’ Lakes area March 7-11:

• Academy at the Lakes, 2220 Collier Pky. – The varsity baseball and softball teams both have away games March 7 that start at 4 p.m. On March 8, the fifth and sixth grade community service days are planned. Varsity softball and tennis both play at 4 p.m. March 10 sees varsity tennis, softball and baseball action and March 11 is a day off from school for students at the academy.
• Land O’ Lakes Christian School, 5105 School Rd. – The boys varsity basketball team plays Legacy at home March 8 at 7:30 p.m. The FBC Family Conference starts March 11 as do the basketball playoffs.
• Connerton Elementary, 9300 Flourish Dr. – Make It, Take It Night is March 10 from 4 to 6 p.m.
• Denham Oaks Elementary, 1422 Oak Grove Blvd. – Market Day orders are due March 11 at the school, but online orders will be accepted until March 15. March 11 is Green Day.
• Lake Myrtle, 22844 Weeks Blvd. – Field Day is planned for March 11.
• Oakstead Elementary, 19925 Lake Patience Rd. – Student of the Month honors will go out March 8 at 10 a.m. March 11 is Green Spirit Day.
• Pine View Elementary, 5333 Parkway Blvd. – Tijuana Flats Night is March 8 and Field day is set for March 10.  On March 11, the school has its walk-a-thon planned.
• Charles S. Rushe Middle, 18654 Mentmore Blvd. – The Drama Club meets March 7 from 3 to 5:15 p.m. The Newspaper Club meets from 3 to 4 p.m. March 9 and the girls soccer team takes on Pine View.
• Pine View Middle, 5334 Parkway Blvd. – Extended Days are planned March 7 and March 9. Pine View’s girls soccer team plays Rushe March 9.
