What’s Up in Area Schools? Sept. 12-16

Trying to keep up with school calendars can be tough for busy parents. To help you out, we’ve put it all in one place.

Here’s a look at events and activities taking place in schools in the Land O’ Lakes area Sept. 12-16:

• Academy at the Lakes, 2220 Collier Pky. – The Parents Association meets at 8:15 a.m. Sept. 12 and the varsity volleyball team has a match at 6 p.m. The lower division’s parent night starts at 6:30 p.m. Sept. 13 as does a varsity volleyball match. Middle and upper division parent nights are both set for Sept. 15 at 6:30 p.m. On Sept. 16, varsity cross country has a match at 4 p.m. and the varsity football team has a game at 7:30 p.m.
• Land O’ Lakes Christian School, 5105 School Rd. – The Mom’s Prayer Group breakfast is set for 8:30 a.m. Sept. 14 and class officer elections are set for the same day.
• Connerton Elementary, 9300 Flourish Dr. – The PTA pasta fundraiser is set for Sept. 12 and SAC ballots are due. Boy Scout Night is Sept. 13 and the open house is set for Sept. 15. The school’s book fair runs Sept. 12-16.
• Denham Oaks Elementary, 1422 Oak Grove Blvd. – There are no activities announced this week.
• Lake Myrtle Elementary School, 22844 Weeks Blvd. – The SAC meets at 7:45 a.m. on Sept. 12 and volunteer training is set for Sept. 14 at 9:30 a.m. Also on Sept. 14, a PTA board meeting is set for 3:30 p.m. Family night at Texas Roadhouse runs from 5 to 7 p.m. Sept. 16.
• Oakstead Elementary, 19925 Lake Patience Rd. – Primary open house is Sept. 13 at 6 p.m. and the transitional teams have their open house at 7:30 p.m. Open house for intermediate students is set for 7:30 p.m. Sept. 15 and Student of the Month recognition is Sept. 16.
• Pine View Elementary, 5333 Parkway Blvd. – Tijuana Flats night is set for Sept. 14 starting at 4:30 p.m. The school’s book fair also ends Sept. 12. Fall picture day is set for Sept. 13.
• Charles S. Rushe Middle, 18654 Mentmore Blvd. – The book fair is taking place right now. Parents and students can access it online from the Rushe website through Sept. 13.
• Pine View Middle, 5334 Parkway Blvd. – No events are listed this week.
• Land O’ Lakes High School, 20325 Gator Ln. – Final senior pictures will be taken Sept. 12-13. Also on Sept. 12, student council elections will take place at 10:20 a.m. Blue Club day is set for Sept. 13. College visits are planned throughout the week.
• Sunlake High School, 3023 Sunlake Blvd. – No events have been announced for this week.
