Academy At The Lakes Track Athletes Prepare For Districts

Academy at the Lakes track team members are gearing up for their appearance at the Class 1A District 9 track meet tomorrow, April 14.

The event is hosted by Indian Rocks Christian, but will actually be held at Shorecrest Preparatory School, 5101 First St. N.E., in St. Petersburg. This school has a rubber track, which is more suitable for the event.

This Academy team is small, but has a few hopefuls for regionals.

Sophomore Andrea Maugen will throw the shot. She threw 31 feet 10 inches last Friday at Berkeley and has a chance to compete for one of the six spots.

Sophomore Kristina Stark will also throw shot

Freshman Justine Duncan will run the 100m and 200m. She ran a 14:40 in the 100m at the Berkeley meet on Friday.

Sophomore Alex Gittens will run the 400m and also throw shot. Alex is also on the tennis team.
