Land O' Lakes, Sunlake Face Important District Matchups

The Seahawks and Gators will have to be on their toes tonight.

Land O' Lakes area football fans are in for two nail-biters Friday evening as both and high schools go up against big rivals in district competition.

Sunlake Takes on Hernando at Home

The Seahawks (5-0, 3-0 Class 6A-District 6) kept their Cinderella season alive last Friday, squeeking out a last Friday. The Hawks scored on a 60-yard bomb to senior receiver Rashaud Daniels in the final three minutes of the game.

Up tonight, Oct. 14, is a massive game with district rival Hernando (4-2, 3-0), the only other team in the district unblemished in district play. A win would put the Seahawks in the driver's seat, one game ahead as they take on Land O' Lakes next week.

The Gators (3-2, 2-2 Class 6A-Distrct 6) are coming off a significant and meaningful 48-28 win over Mitchell last Friday. It evened out the Gators' district record and got a win for head coach Brian Wachtel against his former team.

The Gators travel to Brooksville to take on Nature Coast Tech (3-3, 2-1) and junior running back Matthew Breida, who has already rushed for more than 1,000 yards in six games. Sunlake did a good job of containing him last week. If the Gators can keep Breida under raps, they should be able to score enough to get the win.

Both games start at 7:30 p.m.
