The Center for Autism and Related Disabilities at the University of South Florida (CARD-USF) is partnering with Oakstead Elementary School to hold the 2nd Annual Spring Sprint for Autism 5K and 1 Mile Fun Run on Sat. March 17, 2012. The funds raised from this event will support 2 areas within the community – physical fitness programs in the school system and autism awareness in the community. The goal of the Spring Sprint for Autism is to raise the funds necessary so that CARD-USF and Oakstead Elementary School PE can continue to educate all children, including those with autism spectrum disorders, on the importance of fitness in all aspects of their life.

Our inaugural race held in March 2011, attracted over 600 runners in addition to hundreds of spectators and volunteers! This certified and chip timed race, starts near the Shoppe’s at Sunlake Centre on Sunlake Blvd., and finished in the Sunlake High School Stadium, 3023 Sunlake Blvd, Land O’Lakes, where there will be a DJ, food and give aways, including awards for race winners.  Packet pick up will be on March 16, 4:00 pm to 6:30 pm.

Please join us this year by registering to run, volunteering or sponsoring.  Please visit our event page for additional information, registration and sponsor options http://oes.pasco.k12.fl.us/oes_departments/pe/Spring_Sprint.html. Your support helps CARD constituents throughout southwest Florida and also acknowledges your business among the hundreds of individuals and families participating and hundreds more through our event promotions.
