Land O' Lakes Football Goes on the Road
Tonight ends district play for both the Seahawks and Gators.
Land O' Lakes football fans will have to drive a bit to catch this week's action. Both teams have away games tonight.
Sunlake Take on Central
The Sunlake Seahawks (8-1, 5-1 Class 6A District 6) clinched their first playoff berth in school history with a 20-13 win over River Ridge (5-3, 3-3) last Friday. The accomplishment was slightly overshadowed by their the week before. They were two of three signature wins for the Seahawks this season, not including a gritty, ugly back on Oct. 6.

The Hawks have a district road game at Central this Friday and a home finale against Gulf next week. Neither game can affect their playoff standing. Hernando (7-2, 6-0) won last week's game against NCT and locked in the playoff scenarios.
Sunlake will travel to meet District 5 champion Vanguard (6-2, 3-0 Class 6A District 5) in the regional quarterfinals.

Land O' Lakes Battles River Ridge
Land O' Lakes Gators (5-3, 4-2 Class 6A District 6) are still playing for pride with two games left on the slate.
This week they travel to River Ridge (5-3, 3-3) with a chance to lock up a third-place finish in District 6. A non-district, home game against Wesley Chapel remains after that.
No doubt senior quarterback Ryan Bird and senior tight end Kent Taylor would like to post big stats in their final two games of their careers at Land O' Lakes. The team would also like to build on its ground game, led by junior running back Harrison Wood.Wood has just under 700 yards of offense this season and a strong finish to 2011 should help establish building blocks for the 2012 season.
Both away games have a kickoff time of 7:30 p.m. Don't forget to send your photos into editor Sherri Lonon if you happen to catch one of the games!
