Being part of something Special

Lions Club this Tuesday Night -6:00pm Lexington Oaks -- be there or be square.

Wesley Chapel Lions club is a special organization.  Lead by outgoing president Troy Stevenson and 1st Vice President Tony Leger this club started last summer as a dream.  Since the beginning it has been touch and go.

There are a lot of hurdles that have to be overcome when you start a group like this.  The hardest to overcome is the lack of commitment that people have to  anything these days.  We had several people who signed up to be on the board of directors and without much explanation disappeared over the year.  Each for heir own good reason I am sure.

In the year that it has been in existence, it has built a strong relationship with  the Wesley Chapel Chamber of Commerce.  They have cohosted events together and partnered to raise awareness of each other.  The community of Wesley Chapel is growing and needs in that community is growing.  It is a pleasure to be part of the team that is trying to make things better for everyone.  There are sponsorships open for the upcoming golf tournament at Lexington Oaks on June 14. If you’re interested in sponsoring or participating – get in touch with
the Chamber of Commerce.

In the past year we have raised over $20,000 for individual causes and people in need in the community.  Not to mention the relief run with multiple truckloads of goods for the people affected by Hurricane Sandy.   The Club has received  International attention as one of the fasted growing clubs in the country.  Lions  International is the largest of the all the service groups.  They have chapters all over the world.   Their magazine chose to focus on Wesley Chapel in latest newsletter.  What a boost for the community and Pasco County in general.

There are regularly thirty or forty people that show up on the second and fourth Tuesday for our meetings at Lexington Oaks Golf Club.   Meeting times are 8:00 am for breakfast on the second Tuesday and 6:00 PM for dinner on the fourth
Tuesday.
