Help Keep Land O' Lakes Litter-Free!

Register now for a cleanup on Sept. 14.

Pasco County is looking to keep it clean.

Volunteers are being recruited now for a Coastal Cleanup in Land O’ Lakes on Sept. 14. The event is part of the International Coastal Cleanup effort, put together by the Ocean Conservancy.

“This campaign has been active across the nation since 1988 and in Pasco County since 1991,” the county said in a volunteer flier. “Local residents come back each year to help make this event a BIG success. They realize how important it is to keep our environment litter-free.”

Mandy Stephens, Pasco County project coordinator, said 1,400 volunteers fanned out across the county last year to pick up trash. The effort does not just focus on waterways anymore but now includes parks, roads and other public areas, Stephens noted.

“The more the merrier,” she said of the number of volunteers needed this year.
