Children who aren’t quite ready for haunted houses and spooky movies have their own event to look forward to this Saturday.
is set to take place from 10 a.m. to noon at the Land O’ Lakes Community Center. Featuring stuff-your-own scarecrows, face painting, crafts, hot dogs, Harry Potter sugar cookies and more, the festival for kids 9 and under has become a part of the Halloween tradition in Land O’ Lakes, organizers say.
While the Pasco County Parks and Recreation Department puts on the event, a number of groups from the community come out to lend their support. Those groups include the Heritage Park Foundation, Keystone Community Church, Hungry Harry’s, Kemp Farms, the Pasco County Sheriff’s Office and the Land O’ Lakes Rotary Club.
“We strive to help Parks and Recreation to have fun-filled family events,” said Sandy Graves, president of the Heritage Park Foundation. “Scarecrows N' Stuff is part of that mission. Scarecrows N' Stuff is an event more suited to the younger child that might not be able to attend the Haunted House that the Community Center provides for a ‘spooky’ Halloween treat geared toward preteens, teens, and adults.”
