Two cars struck a 21-year-old woman on State Road 54 in the early morning hours of April 18.
A 21-year-old Odessa woman is dead following an early morning accident on State Road 54, just east of Foggy Ridge Parkway in the Lutz portion of Pasco County. Lacey Alane Harrelson was standing in the center lane of westbound State Road 54 around 3:30 a.m. when two vehicles struck her, the Florida Highway Patrol said in a media release. Those vehicles were driven by William M. Daiek, 57, of Land O’ Lakes and William Marshall Nance, 26, of Port Richey. The drivers were not injured in the crash. Their passengers, Donna Daiek, 57, of Land O’ Lakes and Eric Marine, 27, of Lutz were also uninjured. Harrelson was wearing dark clothing and was not positioned in a crosswalk, the release said. She died at the scene of the crash.

A 27-year-old Land O’ Lakes man died after being thrown from a vehicle that flipped over Saturday at an Interstate 75 ramp on Interstate 4. According to the Florida Highway Patrol, Stephen Wolfe was a passenger in a 2002 Ford Explorer driven by 22-year-old Lauren Kelsey Carter, also of Land O’ Lakes. Carter was traveling east on I-4 in the center lane at about 3:20 a.m., FHP stated. She changed lanes to the I-75 entrance ramp and apparently lost control of the vehicle, driving onto the right shoulder of the ramp. He was hit while trying to cross SR 54 early this morning.
A Land O’ Lakes man was hit and and killed at about 6:30 Monday morning while riding his bike on the Suncoast Trail. According to a Florida Highway Patrol report, Andres Manuel Ortega, 43, was traveling north on the trail, which runs parallel to the Suncoast Parkway. While trying to cross State Road 54, Ortega rode into the path of a rock-hauler tractor trailer. The collision ejected Ortega from the bicycle, and he was pronounced dead at the scene. The crash and resulting investigation closed portions of State Road 54 for three hours. The incident remains under investigation, according to the report.
