Jellybean Jamboree Had Them Scrambling

Check out photos from the annual Land O’ Lakes Easter celebration and be sure to add your own.

Land O’ Lakes kids turned out in force over the weekend to wait their turn for a giant egg hunt that was supervised by the Easter Bunny himself. With a single signal from the bunny of the hour, kids were off on a race to see just how many candy-filled eggs they could collect before they were all gone. The Jellybean Jamboree is an annual tradition in Land O' Lakes that dates back for more years "than anyone can remember," said Mike Walcott, supervisor at the Land O' Lakes Community Center, in a previous story. This year's event was once again put on courtesy of the Pasco County Parks and Recreation Department, the Heritage Park Foundation and other local groups. Children from toddlers to elementary school aged kids were invited out to the …

Jellybean Jamboree Brings Easter Bunny to Land O' Lakes

The annual event for kids 12 and younger will be held March 30.

The eggs are filled and the date for the hunt is set. The Jellybeen Jamboree will be held from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. on March 30 at the Land O' Lakes Community Center. The annual event for children 12 and younger features crafts, refreshments, age-specific egg hunts and a visit from the Easter Bunny. Volunteers and monetary donations are still needed to assist with the fun. "Basically we need monetary donations to offset the cost involved with the purchase of the candy-filled Easter eggs, crafts, face tattoos and refresments," Heritage Park Foundation president Sandy Graves said. "We do need volunteers for the egg scramble, crafts and handing out refreshments." The Jellybean Jamboree is sponsored by Pasco Parks and Recreation, Heritage Park …

Santa Claus Revs Up Land O' Lakes for the Holidays

The big man will arrive on his motorcycle to kick off the Christmas festivities at the fifth annual Traditions on the Green.

Ho, ho, ho! It’s Christmastime in Land O’ Lakes! And that means it's time for the Heritage Park Foundation’s annual Traditions on the Green, kicked off by none other than the jolly ol’ elf himself. Santa will ride into town on his motorcycle at 9 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 8, for a complimentary pancake breakfast at the Land O’ Lakes Community Center, Heritage Park Foundation president Sandy Graves said. After breakfast, the fun continues with The Kids’ Christmas Corner, which will have activities for elementary school age children from 10 a.m. to noon. The event, in its fifth year, will feature face painting, ornament crafts, gift making and letters to Santa. A Harry Potter castle moonwalk, puppet shows and a Ho Ho Hole Corn Hole Tournament …

Heritage Park Foundation Kicks Off Holiday Event Planning

Volunteers and donations are needed for its annual fall and winter festivities at the community center.

Fall is in the air—sort of—the holidays are fast approaching, and fun is in the works in Land O' Lakes. Planning for The Heritage Park Foundation's Scarecrows N’ Stuff, as well as Traditions on the Green, will kick off with a meeting at 6:30 p.m. on Sept. 27 at the Land O' Lakes Community Center. Scarecrows N’ Stuff is a not-so-spooky Halloween festival featuring stuff-you-own scarecrows, games and refreshments. This year's event will be held on Oct. 27. The foundation and the parks and recreation department team up with  Keystone Community Church, the Land O' Lakes Rotary, Kemp Farms, Hungry Harry's, and the Pasco County Sheriff's Office to host Scarecrows N' Stuff, foundation president Sandy Graves said. Traditions on the Green is an …

Jellybean Jamboree is a Hoppin' Good Time

Patch editors (along with our own tiny Patchers) stopped by to check out the fun.

They  came, they played, they hunted— and then they played some more. The annual Jellybean Jamboree at the Land O' Lakes Community Center, sponsored in part by the Heritage Park Foundation, brought youngsters together for a sun-filled morning of train rides and candy scrambles. Do you have photos from the jamboree? Add them to our gallery!

Cool Cars Bring Warm Smiles

The Al and Ida Silver Memorial Classic Car Show delights despite the chilly weather.

The first contestant rolled in at about 9 a.m. It was quickly followed by a steady stream of classic and souped-up cars lining the field at the Land O' Lakes Community Center for the Al and Ida Silver Memorial Car Show. Volunteers and vendors bundled up against the biting wind early Saturday morning, hoping the sun might cut the chill as the day went on. And though the sun didn't provide much relief, the cool cars brought warm smiles to those who came out. This year's event drew 42 registered contestants, about 25 less than last year's event. A classic car show at The Shops at Wiregrass was scheduled during the same time, which may have drawn some participants away, event organizer and foundation president Sandy Graves said. Despite the …

Spread Some Holiday Cheer at Traditions on the Green

There's still time to sponsor a game or craft booth at the upcoming annual event.

The Heritage Park Foundation and Land O' Lakes Saturday Market will once again host Traditions on the Green from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Dec. 10 at the community center, and there is still time to get involved. "We really encourage anyone that wants to become involved to sponsor a booth," event organizer Sandy Graves said in an email. "Just takes a tent, two volunteers and a craft or game."  A booth can be reserved for $10 through Dec. 1. After that, the price increases to $15. The event, in its fourth year, will feature ornament making, crafts, puppet shows and a bounce house. Commissioner Pat Mulieri will provide her "famous face painting," Graves said. The Rotary Club of Land O' Lakes will prepare and serve a breakfast with Santa from 9 to 10 …

Preparing for a Haunting in Land O’ Lakes

Volunteers are getting ready for scary and not-so-scary Halloween activities for the community.

As a team of teenage volunteers transform part of the Land O’ Lakes Community Center into a “haunted house,” another group is readying to offer younger trick-or-treaters a less frightening time. The Pasco County Parks and Recreation Department and the Heritage Park Foundation are teaming up once again to bring Halloween festivities to the area. The parks department’s haunted house is set to run evenings Oct. 20-22. Heritage Park’s Scarecrows N’ Stuff event takes place Oct. 22 from 10 a.m. to noon. Both activities are volunteer based and donation driven. Work on creating the haunted house has begun already, said Mike Walcott, recreation supervisor at the Land O’ Lakes Community Center. “We’ve got a bunch of great kids this year,” Walcott …
