Ierna's Bring the Heat chili cook-off draws chili lovers from all over the Bay area for an afternoon of mouth-watering fun.
It was a beautiful day for a chili cook-off Saturday—and for those of us who are better at eating, a beautiful day for an eat-off. Ierna's Bring the Heat chili cook-off drew a steady crowd of hungry tasters throughout the day. If you're a fan of chili and charity, a local business is offering an event you may want to mark on your calendar. Ierna's Heating & Cooling is hosting a "Bring the Heat" chili cook-off on Saturday, Feb. 18, from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. at their office, 18843 U.S. Highway 41 in Lutz. Proceeds will benefit a local family in need, who will receive a new heating and cooling system. It seems almost everyone has a chili recipe they call their own, but how would it stack up against other local dishes? There's a chance to find out Saturday, Feb. 18 when Ierna's Heating & Cooling hosts its first ever chili cook-off. While the event itself is free for the community, those brave chili chefs confident they can win pay an entry fee of $20— but could win as much as $500. "I do a lot of networking, but now I feel like networking is taking me a lot longer than it used to," said Loran Tripp, director of public relations and marketing for Ierna.
