Spice Up Your Saturday at Ierna's Chili Cook-Off

There will be plenty of chili, live music and a bounce house for the kids.

If you're a fan of chili and charity, a local business is offering an event you may want to mark on your calendar. Ierna's Heating & Cooling is hosting a "Bring the Heat" chili cook-off on Saturday, Feb. 18, from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. at their office, 18843 U.S. Highway 41 in Lutz. Proceeds will benefit a local family in need, who will receive a new heating and cooling system. The event includes live music and a bounce house for kids, said Loran Tripp, director of public relations and marketing for Ierna's. The winner receives a $500 prize from the judges, who include: Paula O'Neil, clerk and comptroller in Pasco County; Anthony Becht, an NFL player; Dave Andrechuck of the Tampa Bay Lightning; Jack Mariano, Pasco County commissioner; Dr. …

Take Your Valentine Out to the Ball Game

Sunlake's Lady Seahawks take on the Land O' Lakes High Gators at the annual Cancer Pink Out tonight.

The Sunlake Lady Seahawks will host their third annual "K-Out Cancer Pink Out" softball game against the Land O'Lakes Gators at 5 p.m. today (Feb. 14). This is the first year the teams have played each other during this fundraiser and each will be wearing pink and showing their support to survivors, fighters, and warriors, and to help bring awareness to breast cancer, according to a press release. The event kicks off with the juinior varsity teams at 5 p.m. and honorees throwing out the first pitches, followed by the varsity match up at 7 p.m. County athletic gate cost is $3.00, which does not benefit the cause, however additional donations are appreciated, the release stated.
