The following information is provided to clarify the last days of attendance for the graduating class of 2013.
Land O' Lakes High School recently posted this information on their website regarding the last week of school for graduating seniors. - May 20 and 21 are regular school days. - After May 21, seniors may be on school grounds during the school day for the following reasons: - Seniors who have to conduct school business must do so after student-contact hours. Faculty and staff are available from 2:00 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. each afternoon. - Drop-in visitations are not permitted during the remainder of the school year. Seniors found loitering on campus, including the parking lot, run the risk of losing their privilege to participate in the graduation ceremony. Land O' Lakes High School will have its graduation ceremony May 31; Sunlake on June 1.
It’s that time of year again for “Pomp and Circumstance.” Land O’ Lakes seniors will soon receive their diplomas — and, of course, pose in their caps and gowns for a seemingly endless amount of photos taken by family. Land O’ Lakes High School will hold its graduation ceremony May 31 at the USF Sun Dome. The event will take place at 4 p.m. The school’s colors are blue and gold and they are know as the Gators. Thier anticipated number of graduates is 345. The valedictorian is Brooke Gonzalez; the salutatorian Madison Parks. Sunlake High School will its graduation ceremony June 1 at the USF Sun Dome. The Land O' Lakes Athletic Foundation will host a hall of fame dinner later this month.
Land O' Lakes High School's Athletic Foundation recently announced its Hall of Fame 2013 inductees. The list includes Tim Harvey, Kenneth McCurry, Colleen Bentz Sanders, Robert Shirmohammad and Henry Walls. The winners will be inducted at the Hall of Fame Dinner set for May 28 at the Land O' Lakes Culinary Arts Center, 20325 Gator Lane. The ceremony will feature former Tampa Bay Buccaneer and 11 time NFL pro bowler Derrick Brooks as keynote speaker. The local band Stonegrey consists of members who recently graduated from Land O' Lakes High School or are current attendees.
If you’re looking for a good story behind the name of his band, Stonegrey, guitarist Tristan Dusek said you won’t find it. “I knew that would come up eventually,” the 17-year-old said of the question regarding the moniker's meaning. “I couldn’t tell you. Stonegrey just came up and we liked it. There’s no real meaning to it.” The local four-piece band, which formed as Culprit in 2010, plays a blend of alternative and rock, calling themselves “rock revival” and citing influences such as Alice in Chains, Red Hot Chili Peppers and Pearl Jam. Friends, family, former students and colleagues gathered May 2 to honor the memory of Land O' Lakes High School football Coach John Benedetto.
John Benedetto is gone, but friends, family and former students made it clear last night, May 2, that he's certainly not forgotten. The Celebration of Coach Benedetto's Life held at Ukulele Brands was meant to honor the former Land O' Lakes High School head football coach and the impact he had on the community during the 30-plus years he served it. If the standing-room-only crowd at the eatery was any indication, Benedetto's impact on Land O' Lakes was huge. The Land O’ Lakes community is coming together Thursday night to honor the long-time football coach who died suddenly April 21.
John Benedetto spent more than 30 years coaching Land O’ Lakes High School students to do their best. Now, those students will gather to honor and remember the man who led the Gators to more victories than anyone else. The Celebration of Coach Benedetto’s Life is set for Thursday, May 2 from 7 to 10 p.m. at Ukulele Brands, 4805 Land O’ Lakes Blvd. It includes a performance by Solar Exposure and a silent auction to benefit the Benedetto Family Scholarship Fund that’s been established through the Pasco Education Foundation. Ukulele’s plans to donate 50 percent of the proceeds from food sales to the scholarship fund, according to the event’s Facebook page. The popular Land O’ Lakes High School football coach died in his sleep, according to TampaBay.com.
Land O’ Lakes is mourning the loss of a local legend. Former Land O’ Lakes High School football coach John Benedetto died in his sleep April 21, according to TampaBay.com. He had just turned 66 on Friday, the website reported. Benedetto, who spent 32 years as the Land O’ Lakes Gators’ football coach, compiled a 196-149 record during his run at the school. In Benedetto’s last 12 seasons coaching Gator football, the team went to the playoffs each year in one of the most impressive coaching streaks Pasco County has ever witnessed. His tenure at the school left such an impression after a grand total of 34 years working there that the Pasco County School Board decided last year to rename the Swamp in Benedetto’s honor. Students will compete for the title of "Cinderella's Favorite Dessert" on Thursday, Jan. 17, at the Academy of Culinary Arts at Land O' Lakes High School. Land O' Lakes High came in 10th. Sunlake wasn't included in the top 40. The maximum possible SAT score is 2400. There are three parts to the SAT tests: math, verbal and writing.
