Reading helps students stay on track over the summer and many businesses and organizations offer reading incentives.

Are your kids already bored on their summer break from school?  Summer reading is an enjoyable and entertaining activity that can stimulate a child’s mind each day.  Summer reading is important, not just for elementary age students, but for all students. When school is out, reading should continue. A lack of reading can lead to summer reading loss. Summer reading loss, also known as summer setback or summer slide, occurs when reading achievement declines between the months of June and August. 14th Annual Battle Of The Bands Gets Under Way

Registration is still open for the event that culminates with a March concert.

Musicians looking for a venue to play need look no further than their Pasco County library branch. With Rockus Maximus Revolution: Battle of the Bands XIV now under way, groups from all over the state are invited to sign up to play at a multi-band competition March 25, 2011. Any band that meets the minimum qualifications is welcome to apply for the event, which includes an online competition and a live, judged performance during the annual battle, said Paul Stonebridge, teen librarian at the Land O' Lakes Branch Library. While there is no limit on bands that can apply, the field will be narrowed down to eight before the real competition begins, Stonebridge said.
