After tackling health care in his first term, it looks like President Barack Obama has set his sights on waging another big battle in his second term in office – immigration reform. The president is expected to discuss his plans for reform on Tuesday during a trip to Nevada, but a bi-partisan group of Senators intends to beat him to the punch. The group of eight Senators includes Florida’s own Republican Marco Rubio, according to the Huffington Post. Planning on heading over to the rally for Gov. Mitt Romney in Land O’ Lakes on Saturday? There are quite a few things officials from Pasco County and the Romney campaign want you to be aware of. Traffic and Road Closings While it’s unclear just how congested U.S. Highway 41 will become in the hours before the rally, Pasco County Sheriff Chris Nocco has some pretty simple advice: “Go early or avoid the area completely if you’re not going.” Nocco said he anticipates U.S. 41 will close sometime Saturday to accommodate Romney’s motorcade, but he couldn’t provide specific times or locations. Former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney is making an appearance in Land O’ Lakes on Saturday.
Tampa Bay area residents afraid they’ve missed their chance to get tickets for Gov. Mitt Romney’s rally in Land O’ Lakes are in luck. The Romney campaign has confirmed tickets are still available for the Saturday, Oct. 27, rally at Land O’ Lakes High School, 20325 Gator Lane. When asked if there was still space available, Republican National Committee spokeswoman Jill Bader responded “absolutely!” Tickets for the rally are available on the Romney campaign’s website. There is no charge to attend, but seating is limited. While security gates open at 5 p.m. Saturday for ticketholders, Romney isn’t expected to appear until 7, the campaign reports. U.S. Sen. Today the United States Supreme Court upheld the Affordable Care Act and its individual mandate 5-4. Local and state officials were quick to offer a response to today's historic decision on Facebook, Twitter and traditional media. Gov. Rick Scott: "The Justices have declared that the central provision of ObamaCare is a judicially mandated tax. A new tax pure and simple.
