The heating and cooling company is hosting a jacket, coat and blanket drive to help the area’s homeless this winter.
What does a heating and cooling company do to help the homeless when cold winter weather is just around the corner? When the heating and cooling company happens to be Ierna’s, the answer is sponsor a jacket, coat and blanket drive to help keep those in need warm when the temperatures drop. The Lutz-based company has teamed up with Metropolitan Ministries to collect colder-weather gear for the area’s homeless. Now through Dec. 20, Land O' Lakes residents can help in the drive by dropping off new or gently used items at Ierna’s, 19121 N. U.S. Highway 41, during regular business hours. "We love our community and we think it is important to give back in many ways,” said Marrisa Collier, public relations specialist for Ierna’s. “This is just …

It's the only tent in the Land O' Lakes area, and volunteers hope the entire community will get behind the food and toy drive this year.
It's official. The holidays are upon us. And now is the time your help is needed most. The Pasco Metropolitan Ministries tent opened Nov. 12 at Keystone Community Church at 21010 State Road 54 in Lutz. And though it got off to somewhat of a slow start, volunteers say they hope the word spreads quickly that they are there. By 11 a.m. they had five frozen turkeys dropped off, and several motorists passing by stopped to ask what was needed, co-coordinator Deborah Gehlen said. And though this is the fourth year that the church has hosted the only Metropolitan Ministries tent in the Land O' Lakes/Lutz area, the trick is just getting the word out that the food and toy drive goes beyond the members of the church. "It's not just a Keystone event…
The event will feature free food and entertainment at the Metropolitan Ministries tent at Keystone Community Church.
It's fun, it's free and it's for a good cause. Keystone Community Church hosts Fun Feeds Pasco from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 17, to benefit the Metropolitan Ministries. This is the fourth year the church has hosted the only Metropolitan Ministries of Pasco tent in the Land O' Lakes/ Lutz area, co-organizer Angela Hobson. And to get the word out to the community that the tent is there for everyone, the idea for Fun Feeds Pasco was born. The day-long event at 21010 State Road 54 in Lutz will feature food, live music, an antique car show, bounce houses, face painting and more, co-organizer Deborah Gehlen said. "It's a lot for the kids," she said. The Pasco Sheriff's Office mounted posse will be there, along with a fire truck and …
