Though only five people could win the $500 gift cards, everyone who entered touched our hearts with their stories about their moms and other special women in their lives.
Not too long ago, Patch ran a Mother’s Day contest on all 19 of its Florida sites asking you to comment about your mother or another special lady in your life. We have named the five winners and want to share their stories with you. Remember: The five $500 gift card recipients were selected at random, but we think you’re all winners in our book. Waiting until the last minute only means you were thinking harder than everyone else. Um, right?
If you're reading this, you're in the I-Haven't-Gotten-Anything-for-Mom-and-I'm-Out-of-Time Club. Don't fret, I'm the president, and we have lots of members. And membership has its benefits! ( Er, I think.) Seriously, though. She raised you, and that couldn't have been easy. You were probably a royal pain if you're honest about it. When I think back to my teen years, it's a wonder I survived. She probably could've justified snuffing me out. (Sorry, mom! I love you!) So, now that we're out of time—and maybe out of money—here are a few ideas to put a smile on the face of the woman who chose to keep you around, teach you well and maybe take on a whole lot of grandkids after she finally got you out of the nest. A local reader wins a $500 gift card to help her mother celebrate this weekend.
The results are in and we have our winners in Patch’s Mother’s Day contest, which invited readers throughout the Tampa Bay area to submit stories about their mothers. We’re proud to say that one of our very own readers from Land O' Lakes, Bettsi Hernandez, won one of the $500 gift cards. Mother's Day is around the corner, and a few local businesses have teamed up to make it super special for one lucky momma. The Makeover for Mom contest winner will receive a complete hair style, including cut and color, from Shanna Young of HairStyle Salon, a new outfit from Classy Consignment, an airbrush tan from Tropic Tan, makeup from Mary Kay Independent Beauty Consultant Annette Antinori-Hall and dinner for two at Benedetto's Ristorante Italiano.
