The sign just outside of the main ballroom at The Groves Country Club the night of Dec. 31 read: "Almost Sold Out." Inside the ballroom told the real story ... the place was packed. Everyone was dressed for the theme New Years' Eve in Time Square. It was an elegant event. The evening started at 6 with cocktails, a buffet dinner, then dessert was provided by the social club. Vesh at The Groves catered the dinner. This was the first New Years' Eve for Vesh as they took over the clubhouse restaurant earlier in 2010. Becky Clamp and her husband George, both residents of the Wilderness, said, "dinner was wonderful." This is their third year attending this event, and they have enjoyed each year. Then it was time to cut loose as Luke …

Right after the clock struck midnight, the sky over Land O' Lakes lit up with fireworks. In just about every direction, revelers set off their own shows, saying goodbye to 2010 and hello to 2011. With noisemakers in hand, residents in the Cypress Cove neighborhood came out of their homes to watch the fireworks and enjoy the new beginning. Some set off their own light shows as they hooped and hollered to herald the milestone. All of us at Land O' Lakes Patch wish you and yours a very Happy New Year!

Most companies that serve the area operate airport limo services and one reports being pretty booked for New Year's Eve. Revelers who intend to head into Tampa for celebrations, can hitch rides home through the city's cab companies. Zingo, a company that drives both the partier and the person's vehicle home, said its employees will bring home Land O' Lakes residents if they need a safe ride. There is a caveat, however. "Tonight's the night we really want to have …

Land O' Lakes residents have four fireworks tents to choose from.
With the New Year almost here, firework tents have sprung up all over Land O' Lakes. Many people will be ending the year with a big bang, so we figured we would let everyone know where to find fireworks in the community. There are four tents offering a variety of fireworks including sparklers, mortars, fountains, sets, bottle rockets, firecrackers, smoke bombs and more. All the tents are offering buy-one, get-one-free specials on select merchandise. In order to buy fireworks, patrons have to sign a form stating they are 18. A Galaxy fireworks stand is located on State Road 54 in front of where the old Walmart used to be. It is open 8:30 a.m. to about 9 p.m. every day and will stay open later each day as we get closer to the holiday. On New…
