Blueberry Jerry Jamboree Set for 2nd Appearance

The Pasco County festival was created last year to honor the memory of a former blueberry grower and his son. The two died within months of each other.

The Blueberry Jerry Jamboree was such a hit last year organizers have decided to bring it back for a repeat performance. This year’s festival is set for April 27-29 at The Concourse at Safety Town, 12013 Alric Pottberg Road in Spring Hill. The hours are from 1 to 10 p.m. Friday, 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. Saturday and from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday. While admission is free, parking costs $5. The festival got its start last year when Brenda Short thought it would serve as a good memorial to her husband, Jerry, and son Justin, 22. Jerry and Brenda Short began growing blueberries in Hudson in 2002. Before too long, Jerry became known as “Blueberry Jerry.” Customers at Brenda’s Berry Barn started referring to her as “The Berry Lady.” Jerry died on Aug. 5…
