A free concert and live taping of the Library Warrior competition starts at 6 p.m. tonight.
There will be no shushing at the library tonight, so put your books down, ladies and gentlemen. And prepare to rock. A Rockus Maximus concert preview gives sample of good jives.
You're next Land O' Lakes. If you wandered over to the juvenile section of the South Holiday Library Saturday, you would have been greeted with a live performances of rock, metal and hip-hop. Four bands and one solo act were rocking at a preview performance for Rockus Maximus XV, the Pasco County Library System's Battle of the Bands. You can catch a preview concert at the Land O' Lakes Library on March 9 that will feature the other four bands that will be competing at the main event. Want to hear some of the bands in Rockus Maximus XV before the big concert in March? You’ll get your chance tonight (Feb. 25) when four of the eight acts take to the stage at the South Holiday Library, 4649 Mile Stretch Drive, from 6 to 10 p.m. The preview concert is free and geared toward teens in grades six and up. The first 50 teens in the door will get free glow sticks. Rockus Maximus is the Pasco County Library System’s annual battle of the bands. The event pits eight local bands against each other in a competition to win 10 hours of recording time and other prizes. Vendors are wanted for the 15th annual Rockus Maximus Battle of the Bands.
Are you ready to rock? If you’re a small business owner, the Pasco County Library System hopes so. Organizers of the 15th annual Rockus Maximus Battle of the Bands are looking for vendors to set up shop during the March 23 concert that features eight local bands in a contest to win recording studio time. Since the concert has a new home this year – the Rotary Pavilion on Alric Pottberg Road in Shady Hills – there’s more space and availability to accommodate food vendors and other businesses, said Paul Stonebridge, the concert’s organizer and the library system’s teen services manager. The library system is gearing up for its 15th annual battle of the bands.
While the official kickoff of Rockus Maximus XV is still a few months away, it’s never too early for bands to start honing their skills, Pasco County library officials say. The annual musical battle technically gets started Dec. 16 with an opening concert at the Land O’ Lakes Library. That’s also the date the library system will start accepting applications for the eight bands that will ultimately appear in the musical showdown. Right now, the library system is seeking out bands to appear in that Dec. 16 concert.
