ReplyThe money from lottery works out to be about $5-$8 dollars per student per year. This is info from the past few years. Not as much as we are led to believe.

ReplyThanks for sharing your situation. My fifth grader (same class as yours) is having issues with some of the same things. He is caught in between the cartoons and sports and the girls! He does have a shortfall when it comes to others perception of him. This is a problem I too had growing up. I know your son and anyone would be lucky to have him as a friend! I am sorry that this time has come and I will definitely incorporate these ideas into conversations with my boy! Thanks for your candid article.

ReplyWow! I hope this young man got the scare of his life. I think TV shows have made these types of issues acceptable to our young ones. I know we all make mistakes and hopefully this is that one time this child needed to help him see that this is not a good type of thing to be doing.

ReplyIn the public school system the kids will get the detailsin fifth grade. So, as a parent you need to make the decision to answer their questions after the class or to prepare them for what they will hear. I have a son in fifth grade and I feel we prepared him the best we could. Our approach will be a combination of both, before and after.

ReplyI agree that anyone searching for a pet should take their time to research. Shelter animals are a great place to start. Please remember to spay/neuter. Mom to pet dog Riley, 11 year old pound puppy!

My 11 year old son just started these classes and he loves it! It has been a great introduction to the martial arts and Isshinryu Karate. He shows a willingness to concentrate and learn. Great value, thanks Sensei Marty and Sensei Becka!
