ReplyThank you Laura, finally a voice of reason! Our editor is doing a wonderful, honest job trying to moderate between infantile name calling and personal attacks on the people posting on this website and those people who are simply trying to share their opinions. As I have said before, I chose to take the high road most of the time because the low road is so crowded, but now is the time that this childishness must stop! We should all watch what we say when we post here. (Refer to my blog on Tolerance) and for those of you who feel "censored" should maybe consider going elsewhere!

@ David, I wish to be defined by how I chose to be defined. Ever read anything by Ayn Rand! Labels are overall meaningless if you ask me!

ReplyI can see both sides of the liberal and conservative argument here, and I agree with Jeff's prior statements that it is nice to see such a lively debate and dialogue in the Harbor!

ReplyRest assured I can defend myself just fine, but I'm choosing to take the high road here because the low road is so crowded. Again, David I wish you a warm Merry Christmas, and goodwill towards men.

ReplyI couldn't agree more with your statement about the senseless of these murders. My heart is broken for the families, and we grieve as a nation. There are no words that describe the senselessness of this tragedy, especially the loss of the children. Yet, I disagree with your statement about the blood being on the hands of those members of the NRA or as you say those people "unaffected and don't speak out about the tragedy". That statement is a blanket generalization that is not based on any logic or sense. I am a gun owner, and yes I would like to get a concealed weapon permit. As a woman, I feel safer knowing that I have a means of protecting myself from someone who may be breaking into my home or threatening myself or my family. So by your statement I am at fault for this tragedy because I am exercising my right to own a gun. I agree with you that measures need to be taken to tighten gun control, but even if guns were outlawed the people who truly wanted them would still get them from somewhere. It is thanks to the NRA and responsible gun owners that there is some form of regulation and education about guns, and how to properly handle and maintain them. I'm sure you heard this before, but it is people that kill, not guns. So to blame this horrible tragedy on the NRA or those people who own guns is wrong. The sole blame for the horrible event is the lunatic monster who was pulling the trigger, and I hope he burns in hell!

@ Janice. Thank you, but I suffer from neither. I'm just looking at things from my perspective, and offering my people. Did you not read my piece about Keyneian economics? I think that explains why I think capitalism is the best course. I'll give you that capitalism is not perfect, but its thanks to the capitalists that we all enjoy and live in a much better society and have a higher standard of living that we did just 100 years ago! And also Janice, please don't imply that I don't think because I can assure you that I do. I respect your opinion, and all I ask is that you please respect mine. Lets just leave it that we can agree to disagree. I'm not trying to change anyone's opinions here, just offering my thoughts.

I'm all for it! I think they should provide equal rights to those people, whether gay or straight, who are fully committed to one another and are living together.
