There will be no shushing at the library tonight, so put your books down, ladies and gentlemen.
And prepare to rock.
Four of the eight bands that will be competing in the upcoming 15th Annual Rockus Maximus: Battle of the Bands on March 23 will be performing live, beginning at 6 p.m. this evening:
Once the concert wraps at about 9 p.m., you can stick around for a live taping of the Library Warrior competition, "a hilarious stunt show along the lines of Double Dare meets Fear Factor, where our bands will do battle in 5 increasingly ridiculous events," according to the Rockus Maximus Facebook page.
The Rockus Maximus XV competition accepted bands that have a majority of members who are under 21 years old, from Pasco County and beyond.
The winner of the main concert event on March 23 will walk away with $1,000 and 10 hours of free recording time at Morrisound Studio in Tampa.
There also is an online voting competition. The band who gets the most online votes will win a $500 gift card from Encore Music. A $250 card goes to the band with the second highest number of online votes.
To find out more about Rockus Maximus or to vote in the online competition, visit the battle’s website.
The main battle takes place March 23, and the Land O' Lakes and New Port Richey Patch editors will be among the judges.
New Port Richey Patch and Land O’ Lakes Patch are both sponsors of the events along with Rasmussen College, Morrisound Recording and Encore Music.
