The New Face of Pasco Parks

Nate the Acorn is eager to make new friends.

The new mascot of the Pasco County Parks and Recreation Department is a friendly fellow, naturally.

Nate the Acorn is the new face of the department, and he hung out at the Pasco Government Center on Little Road Oct. 1 to introduce himself to visitors and residents. His live debut was during an event commemorating the Parks and Rec department's 40th anniversary.

Nate’s going to help the department market itself, its programs and the county’s green spaces. Nate’s the brainchild of Alex Fasano, parks and recreation supervisor. The West Pasco Quilters Guild helped bring Nate to Pasco. Nate features prominently on Parks and Rec’s new Facebook page, which launched Oct. 1.

The county has launched a cintest where three random people who like the Facebook page will get a free annual parking pass to Pasco parks.

You can also look for him at events in Pasco County. Look for our interview with Nate soon.
