Business Owner Makes Supporting Students in Need a Snap

You can drop off back-to-school items for Big Brothers, Big Sisters at her location, or she will come and pick them up.

It's back-to-school shopping time, but for some local students, getting the supplies they need isn't in the family budget.

So a local businesswoman hopes to help fill the need.

"A lot of times what seems like a little thing to you, is a big thing to someone else," LOL Transport & Moving owner Rene Van Hout said.

That's why her company, LOL Transport & Moving, is collecting large backpacks, school supplies and sneakers for elementary, middle and high school students on behalf of Big Brothers Big Sisters-Pasco.

The items will be given out on August 18, so donations are needed as soon as possible, Van Hout said.

Van Hout said businesses and individuals can help out—and make the collection fun in the process—by turning it a contest at work or within a networking group to see who can gather the most donations.

Van Hout plans to take photos of groups dropping off items to share on Land O' Lakes Patch. And if you would like to contribute, but cannot drop off the items, Van Hout will pick them up from you, she said.
