The deputy shone a spotlight midway through the grove and saw two people running west.

He gave pursuit, but lost them in the trees. While the deputy was at a corner of the grove, two dogs came up to his truck and then two men came out of the grove.

Deputies questioned the men, and they said they were hog hunting and had their dogs with them. The men did not have permission to be there, according to a deputy.

Both men were arrested.

Scott Joseph Demers, 40, of Clearwater, was already on probation due to a felony battery out of Pinellas County. He was charged Saturday with violation of probation and trespassing on cultivated land.

Bruce Ernest Parker, the man with Demers, was given notice to appear in court.
