Driver Swerving With Expired Tag Charged With DUI

The incident occurred near U.S. 41 and Bell Lake Road at about 3 a.m. Tuesday morning.

An early morning drive on U.S. 41 resulted in a DUI for a Land O' Lakes man Tuesday, according to the sheriff's office.

Daniel Harold Mooney, 26, was northbound on U.S. 41, "swerving all over the roadway" in a vehicle with an expired tag at about 3 a.m., a complaint affidavit stated.

After pulling him over, a deputy could smell alcohol on his breath, "which grew stronger as he spoke." Mooney's speech was sluured and his eyes were glassy and bloodshot, the report stated.

Mooney consented to field sobriety tests and performed poorly. He refused to submit to a breath test, according to the report.

Mooney of 4751 Everhart Drive was arrested and charged with DUI. He was released from the Land O' Lakes jail Tuesday afternoon.
