Man Charged with DUI After Driving His Car into Hole Caused by Water Main Break

A Pasco County sheriff's deputy had the area at Shining Star Drive blocked off early early Friday morning.

A man was arrested and charged with driving under the influence after he attempted to pass an area of Shining Star Drive that had been blocked early Friday morning due to a water main break.

A Pasco County sheriff's deputy had the area blocked when Cole Montgomery, 25, requested to drive past at about 1:30 a.m. on Dec. 2, according to a complaint affidavit. The deputy advised Montgomery to back up and go back the other way. Instead, Montgomery attempted to pull forward and drove off the road into a large hole caused by the gushing water, the report stated.

When the deputy approached him, Montgomery showed signs of intoxication, and provided breath samples at the scene of .109 and .106, according to the report.
