Pasco Deputy in Stable Condition Following Crash

The incident occurred at the intersection of U.S. Highway 41 and State Road 52.

A Pasco County Sheriff's Office deputy is in stable condition following a traffic crash.

The incident unfolded around 11 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 11 at the intersection of State Road 52 and U.S. Highway 41. James Gariepy, driving an unmarked patrol car, turned left onto State Road 52 from U.S. Highway 41 South under a flashing yellow signal. That put Gariepy in the path of a 1996 Jeep Cherokee driven by Elizabeth Pine, 18, of Spring Hill, according to a Florida Highway Patrol report.

The collision caused Gariepy to be transported to Bayonet Point Medical Center. The FHP report states Pine was not transported to a hospital but no other details are given.

The accident remains under investigation. Charges are pending, according to the report.
