Woman Arrested for DUI, Possession of Antibiotic Without a Prescription

She was first pulled over for an improper lane change at Hale Road and U.S. 41.

A Land O' Lakes woman was pulled over for an improper lane change at about 10 p.m. Dec. 3, then arrested for DUI and possession of a prescription drug without a prescription, according to a Pasco County Complaint affidavit.

Sheryl Banek Hanson, 53, of 4049 Dickenson Place, showed "several signs of impairment" when the deputy made contact with her after pulling her over near the intersection of Hale Road and U.S. 41, the report said.

Another deputy responded to the scene to perform a DUI investigation and found her to be "argumentative, belligerent, paranoid, and her speech was very slurred and she swayed while standing," according the the report.

After Hanson requested that her blood sugar be checked, Pasco County Fire Rescue was called to the scene. Hanson's blood sugar was checked twice by the responding paramedics, and was normal both times, according to the report.

Hanson performed poorly on the field sobriety test "and continued to yell and be aggressive and agitated," the report stated. She refused to provide a breath sample, according to the report.

After Hanson was arrested, a deputy searched her purse a found a bottle of Amoxicillin prescribed to another woman. 

A later search of her purse by the detention staff at the Land O' Lakes jail turned up a variety of blank prescription forms.

Hanson was charged with DUI, two counts of possession of blank prescription forms and possession of a legend drug without a prescription. She was released from the Land O' Lakes jail on $5,000 bond.
