Yes, DUI June, 2006 Tampa, FL. It was the worst and best day of my life! I was arrested and realized I was headed in the wrong direction in life. I started reading scripture after talking to my friend and Navy Seal Commander Matt Shipley and realized the right way to live was through following the Bible as a Christian. 19. No 20. I personally will vote NO for Penny for Pasco because I am against any new tax burden on Pasco citizens. However, I realize it probably will be passed. Therefore, the money being appropriated is the next concern and I don’t believe it is being done correctly. I would not allocate funds for purchasing of swamp land or preserve land. In fact the purchasing of land came in last on the most recent survey on how to use the penny for Pasco. Also, the economic development department should not get funds to pick and choose which businesses get tax payers money and which do not. The County government should not be the number one employer in Pasco County. 21. I oppose the Park fees 22. I support the Sports Complex at Wiregrass. Not only will it bring jobs into the community but it will bring a huge influx of tourists that will need to stay in our hotels and generating more capital and more jobs. It is a win-win all around for Pasco and its citizens. To be clear, however, no more county tax dollars than what has been allotted on the project in conjunction with the Porter family should be poured into this park. In the future we need to look at phasing out the tourist tax and allowing businesses to do their own marketing. I don't believe the county should be involved in Public-private partnership. The only reason private companies need tax payers money is because the risk is too high or the project won't be profitable enough to stay in business thus leaving the tax payers on the hook. 23. Invest more in infrastructure and first responders to keep Pasco residence safe. 24. We can stimulate the economy by getting rid of Certificate of Needs (CON's). I have met with John Hagen and John Walsh regarding building a Surgical center with resort accommodations for International patients, which would employ over 500 Pasco residence. After our meeting with the investor John said "it's a great idea but there is one problem you need to get a certificate of need". The solution is to embrace the Free Market where competition lowers costs and quality increases. We could also, streamline our permitting office. This can be done by having workshops where construction leaders and developers can provide input into how to fix a process that is too burdensome. We lose countless construction and development jobs from medium and small size construction companies because of the frustration they face with our current permitting office. 25. We need our next Administrator to have qualities of strong leadership and that will implement the Commissioners visions and directives. 26. I do not support mobility fees. I believe the burden of fees and taxes should be shared equitably. A builder or home owner should not be penalized for building in a rural area nor should a builder or home owner get a free ride if they build in the city limits. 27. I do not support school impact fees. First of all, the revenue is too unpredictable; $26.5 million in FY 2006 and $3.2 million estimated this year (Per Michael Nurrenbrock). Secondly, in a depressed home building market it puts additional burden on developers and the home building industry. We need to look for a reliable and equitable solution for School revenue and replace the school impact fee. 28. I support the extension. Inevitably, with increased population you will need to build more roads and evacuation routes. Traffic concerns continue to be on the forefront of the citizens of Pasco and with Ridge Road being County owned we need to do whatever it takes to get the extension done. The people of Pasco want it. I believe the commission needs to find a way to make it happen.
