Pasco Students Meet, Exceed State Average

The county also led the Bay area in several subjects.

The District School Board of Pasco County announced this week that Pasco County students met or exceeded the state average in 3rd, 4th, 6th, 7th, 8th, 9th and 10th grade reading, algebra, geometry and biology.

Pasco’s students outperformed the entire Bay area in 6th and 7th grade reading, 6th grade mathematics, algebra, biology and geometry.

“These results reflect the tireless efforts of our entire team, especially during this period of significant transition of the state assessment system,” Superintendent Heather Fiorentino said in a press release.

“We are proud of our accomplishments and will use these data to help assess the needs of our students and make the necessary modifications needed to prepare our students to meet these increased state expectations,” Fiorentino said.

Comparisons to past performance are difficult this year because the state increased the required level of performance needed to meet proficiency at each grade level, the press release stated.
