GFWC Lutz-Pasco Junior Woman's Club Membership Social

Junior Woman's Club to host "Uno de mayo- Girl's Nite Out" membership social.

The GFWC Lutz-Pasco Junior Woman’s Club will host its first annual “Girl’s Nite Out—Uno de Mayo!” membership social on Tuesday, May 1.

The juniors would love to have all interested ladies come out to Elsa’s Mexican Cantina at 6:30 p.m. to learn how they can become part of the General Federation of Women’s Clubs—one of the largest women’s volunteer organizations in the world.  The GFWC has clubs all over the US and in many international countries as well, and in the Tampa Bay area there are many local clubs.
Interested ladies join a particular club depending on where they live and whether they want to meet during the day or in the evening.  I am member of the junior club because I want to volunteer in the Lutz/Land o’ Lakes/Wesley Chapel/Pasco community and I work during the day so evening meetings are a must for me.

The junior club was formed just last year but has been very active in our community.  We adopted the Lutz Service Memorial Park and quickly revitalized the memorial by repainting it as well as taking all dead shrubs out and replanting new shrubs. We had a 9-11 kick-off for the project and it was rededicated on the Sunday following Veteran’s Day with a ceremony honoring the Armed Services and all service organizations.

2012 has seen an active start to the junior’s year.

In January we made and served homemade soups to the residents at Tampa Hope Lodge where families of cancer victims at Moffitt Cancer Center live while they are in treatment.

During February we spent a Saturday helping the Hernando Woman’s Builders Association with building a home for Habitat for Humanity.  The juniors also took a field trip to Hernando Primate Habitat and were treated to monkeys on their backs and tigers licking their hands!  We donated much needed playground swings and trapezes as well as munchies for the animals.  We are currently raising money to give the Primate Habitat to help offset surgical costs for their lioness.

The juniors had a successful yard sale at Lutz Memorial Park to raise funds for all our community charities.  And in March we walked all night for our relay team at the Land o’ Lakes Relay for Life.

April has not bring showers to the club as we will participate in and operate a children’s art and craft booth at Learning GateSchool’s annual EcoFest.

As you can see, our club is very busy.  We offer a lot of different activities and
projects for our members to choose from.

Members are not required to participate in all suggested events but
should pick and choose those projects that interest them…..you can be as busy
as you want to be.

Our club was formed so women could network with one another,
build friendships and develop leadership while doing worthwhile community
volunteering.

Our membership requirements are easy- attend monthly
meeting, spend at least 12 hours a year working on community projects of your
choice, participate in our major fundraisers and pay annual dues of $50.

Attending the membership social on May 1 will give interested
ladies a good idea about what it means to be a Junior Woman Club member.   Interested ladies should contact Sharon Grace at (813) 632-2773 or email at gfwclutzpascojwc@gmail.com.
