What Are You Doing for the Summer Solstice?

Today is the longest day of the year. What will you do with your extra daylight?

Do you have any special plans for the summer solstice?

This year the summer solstice is on June 20. The date varies depending on when the sun reaches its farthest point north of the equator. The word solstice comes from the Latin words for sol (sun) and stitium (to stop) because the sun appears to stop at this time of year, according the Old Farmer's Almanac.

Just how many hours of light do we get today in the Land O' Lakes area? According to Time and Date, there will be about 13 hours, 54 minutes and 56 seconds of daylight between sunrise (6:34 a.m.) and sunset (8:29 p.m.)
