‘The Limelight’ Hopes to Shine at Rockus Maximus

The Dade City rockers face off against seven others as this year's Pasco County battle of the bands gets under way on Friday, March 22.

The guys behind The Limelight aren’t sure where their music will take them in the future, but they’re positive on two scores: they love what they do and they’re ready to tear it up at Rockus Maximus 16 this Friday, March 22.

Members of The Limelight hail from Dade City and they’re one of seven bands set to take the stage during the Pasco County Library System’s annual musical battle.

The band recently took time out from its rehearsal schedule to answer some questions for Patch readers. Here’s what they had to say:

Patch: What kind of music do you play?

Band: We play alternative/pop-punk.

Patch: How long have you been together?

Band: 2 years.

Patch: What started you rocking?

Band: We started playing because we love music but we've never been able to be in a band that goes out there and plays shows. Everything else fell into place after we found out we like the same type of music and we came together to start playing.

Patch: Why did you all decide to get involved in Rockus Maximus?

Band: We wanted to play for more of a younger crowd. We usually play at bars or smaller venues and we thought this was a great opportunity to appeal to more people who enjoy our music.

Patch: What sets you apart from other bands?

Band: We all have our own personalities. Some of us are more funny, others are goofballs, and we know what each other's little buttons are that make them tick. Our band chemistry makes who we are and we feel like that quality comes out in our music and how we work well together.

Patch: Do you have a Facebook page or website readers can check out?

Band: Right now all we have is a Facebook page. We will be updating it with more content as we go along. (It’s) http://www.facebook.com/thelimelightband.

Patch: Where do you hope to see your band 5 years from now? 10?

Band: Well to be honest we don't really know where we see ourselves. Life has countless ups and downs. For all we know in 5 or 10 we will just be playing our music under an overpass with bottles and tins. As long as we keep playing, stick by what we do as a group, and continue doing what we love, nothing will take away all the great memories we've had and the many more to come.

Patch: Do you have anything else you’d like to add?

Band: The Limelight is confident and ready to bring the lovely music we know you'll love!

The battle takes place March 22 at the Rotary Pavilion at the Concourse, 15325 Alric Pottberg Road in Shady Hills. The fun starts at 6 p.m. Admission is free with a library card. All told, this year’s battle has $6,000 in prizes on the line.
