Update: Air Search Under Way for Arson Suspect

Update 11:05 a.m. Sept. 30: Neighbors lined the sidewalks just before 11 a.m. watching as firefighters wrapped up their work at 21620 Teal Court. Osprey Lane remains largely blocked off by emergency vehicles and the search continues for the man believed to have set fire to a home with two people inside.

Residents of this normally quiet neighborhood would not offer comments as media arrived.

An active search is under way for a 40-year-old man believed to have set fire to a home on Teal Court in Lutz.

According to the Pasco County Sheriff’s Office, witnesses said the suspect poured gas on the home at 21620 Teal Court while two people were inside. No injuries have been reported and the man is thought to be related to the occupants of the house.

The Pasco Sheriff’s Office is conducting a ground search in the neighborhood, which is located off U.S. 41 and State Road 54 in Pasco Lutz. The Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office is also assisting in the search with its helicopter.

The suspect has been identified as Robert Benjamin Brooks, 40. Residents are asked to contact the sheriff’s office immediately if they see the suspect. He was recently released from the Land O’ Lakes Jail on a battery by strangulation charge.
