Billboards Being Used to Help Catch Pasco Shooters

The signs alert motorists to the search for three people wanted in connection with firing on a law enforcement officer.

As Pasco County Sheriff’s deputies continue to search for three people they believe are involved in earlier this week, they’ve gotten a little boost from the Florida Outdoor Advertising Association.

That group has asked its members to put up billboards with the pictures of the three people Pasco deputies believe are connected to the attempted murder of a Zephyrhills police officer Aug. 2.

According to Pasco County Sheriff’s spokesman Doug Tobin, the advertising association asked its members this morning to help get the word out. The billboards are already live in the Tampa area, Miami, Jacksonville and Pensacola, Tobin said.

Ryan Edward Dougherty, 21, Dylan Dougherty Stanley, 26, and Lee Grace E. Dougherty, 29, were identified as "persons of interest" by the Pasco sheriff’s office.

The incident began around 7 a.m. Aug. 2 when a Zephyrhills officer tried to make a traffic stop within the city limits on a 2006 white Subaru Impreza with a New York tag of FBE5900. The people in the car began firing at the police officer’s cruiser. A chase ensued, but the officer’s car was disabled in the area of State Road 54 and Morris Bridge Road.

Several guns were fired at the officer, including a high-powered firearm, Pasco Sheriff’s officials have said.

The suspects are considered armed and dangerous.

Anyone with information on the whereabouts of the suspects is asked to call the sheriff’s office at 727-844-7711.
