Lutz Woman Jailed After Hitting 2 Patrol Cars

She was charged with two counts of DUI with property damage.

A Lutz woman was jailed yesterday morning when Hillsborough County Sheriff’s officials say she struck a cruiser, sending a deputy to the hospital.

According to Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office spokeswoman Debbie Carter, the incident occurred around 1:04 a.m. June 4. Two Hillsborough deputies were responding to a call about a fight at the L.A. Hangout, 16411 N. Florida Ave., when the woman, who was driving north on Florida struck a stopped cruiser driven by Deputy Don Shook, 42.

Shook’s cruiser was pushed into another deputy’s vehicle, which was unoccupied at the time.

Shook, an eight-year veteran with the sheriff’s office, was taken to St. Joseph’s Hospital where he was treated for minor injuries and released.

Arrested was Clara Rivera, 55, of 1149 Willow Bend Way in Lutz. She was charged with two counts of DUI with property damage.
