Mother, Daughter Shot in Home Invasion

Details are emerging in a home invasion shooting in Lutz that has left a woman and her 14-year-old daughter hospitalized with gunshot wounds.

The incident began to unfold just after 1:30 a.m. Wednesday when the two arrived home. Details are sketchy at this point, but Pasco County deputies say the two were called over to a neighboring home at 20045 Valdez Lane when someone else heard noises coming from inside.

When the woman and the daughter entered the home, they were both shot, wrote sheriff's office spokeswoman Melanie Snow in an email to media. She added that as many as seven people may have been in the home.

The woman and child were flown to St. Joseph’s Hospital. Their conditions remain unknown at this time.
